Today, when typing keyword at firefox address bar, i got search result from bing. This happen after installing some stuff from windows live. There are reasons why i wanna keep google as my default search engine, for example google will redirect me to address which most related to my keyword.

Here is a few step to set google as default search engine for address bar :

  • Open new tab, and type about:config

  • If you find warning like below, just click the button

  • On the filter, type keword.url

  • On the list, right click keyword.url, and click reset

  • And, here is the result with keyword the stranger. It’s redirect me to thestranger.com, Google knows what i mean :)

Google announced the launch of “Doodle 4 Google”, a competition that invites school children to design a Google logo inspired by the question, “What I Wish for the World”. Doodle 4 Google invite K-12 students to play around with our homepage logo and see what new designs they come up with.

The National Winner will win a $15,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of their choice, a trip to the Google New York Office, a laptop computer, and a t-shirt printed with their doodle. Google will also award the winner’s school a $25,000 technology grant towards the establishment/improvement of a computer lab.

  • Each of the other 3 National Finalists will win a trip to the Google New York Office, a laptop computer, and a t-shirt printed with their doodle.
  • Each of the other 36 Regional Winners will win a trip to the Google New York Office and a t-shirt printed with their doodle.
  • Each of the other 360 State Finalists will receive a “Doodle 4 Google” official winner’s certificate.

You can choose National Finalists by voting online between May 11th – 18th. The winner will appear on Google.com on May 21st.

No one can beat google until today. It’s not surprised that google is still leading search engine specially in US. Hitwise, an Experian company, announced today that Google accounted for 72.39 percent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending April 25, 2009. Yahoo! Search, MSN Search and Ask.com received 16.27 percent, 5.68 percent and 3.95 percent, respectively. The remaining 49 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.36 percent of U.S. searches.

Hitwise also continue research about search query. The length of search queries has increased over the past year. Longer search queries, averaging searches of five to more than eight words in length, have increased 7 percent between April 2008 and April 2009. Searches of eight or more words increased 18 percent. The same time period showed that shorter search queries – those averaging one to four words long – have decreased 2 percent. Searches of two words comprised the majority of searches, amounting to 22.95 percent of all queries.
